Crom Castle Wedding
“I love you as certain dark things are to be loved, in secret, between the shadow and the soul”
~ Pablo Neruda
“We were immediately drawn to your moody, dramatic lighting and the fact that you use the natural landscape as your backdrop.” Wrote Gia in her initial email to us. Like, Gia and Gavin basically had us at hello! Well no that’s a lie, they had our hearts when they said “We’d rather it be overcast, chilly and misty but rain and snow is completely fine too!” We met Gia, a vibrant fun loving soul from New York and the ever bashful and lovely Gavin told one sunny afternoon over Skype. Isn’t technology amazing. While the sun shone through their kitchen windows they explained that they knew full well what the weather was like on the island, in mid winter, and they were game ball to get out in any element that was thrown at them. We has said that we might get lucky and get some of that liquid golden light that graces us here in November, or we might just get black skies and rain. We all laughed and wished for a bit of both. Who knew that old adage “be careful what you wish for” would come back to haunt us. We listened as they told us all about the beautiful Crom Castle which would be full of family and friends from either side of the Atlantic Ocean.
All of a sudden it it was time to get in the defender and make the drive up across the country to Enniskillen. We arrived on the morning to a Massive Castle…. which seemed pretty vacant. We couldn’t find anyone. Having done our scout the afternoon before we knew were in the right place… then it happened the way it always does.. The roars of absolute joyous laughter filled the corridors. following the giggles, the banging of doors and foot steps we were greeted by Gavins mum who straight away took us under her wing, showing us around this incredible venue as if it were home. You have to Love Mammies like Gavin and Gias, they make you feel like you are part of the family and all of a sudden you are, you are no longer “the photographers” as you are swept away with all the laughter love and emotions that a wedding day brings.
We won’t waffle on here too much longer. Gia and Gavin’s images speak for a themselves. It was a day of beautiful emotions, icy rain battered the conservatory as friends and family from across the world came together to celebrate and cheer as our couple tied the knot at cake, drank a love potion and jumped over the broom. ~Oh! did we not mention, their celebrant was a white witch! We only wish she had a spell to warm the weather outside. The wind was biting as we took shelter in the ruined castle, which made Gavin hold Gia all the tighter. Kissing and whispering sweet nothings as the pair were blissfully ignorant of the elements being thrown at them. What a couple! What a seriously in love beautiful couple.
